Reducing Airplane Travel Risk

Reducing Airplane Travel Risk

If you need to fly, there are a few things you can do to reduce your risk as much as possible. You should, however, avoid recreational travel as much as possible.

Check with the airlines before purchasing tickets for sanitizing and distancing policies.

  1. A window seat may reduce risk as you will have fewer people in a 6-foot radius around you.
  2. Bring wipes to disinfect anything you may need to touch.
  3. Wear a mask and bring hand sanitizer.
  4. Some experts think using the air nozzle above your seat is an effective way to reduce your risk of infection. However, it is advisable not to direct the stream of air at your face.

Air circulation systems on most planes are quite good. They have high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters and high rates of air exchange.
